The Sports Conference in Kulebovka
 |
| On this picture Myrna Gregory shares
the basics of the sports ministry with the Ukrainian ministers. |
|
This week in the town of Kulebovka, just outside
of the city of Dnipropetrovsk, Ukrainian believers are participating
in a sports training seminar. A volunteer group from Pineal Baptist
Church in Brandon, Mississippi, has come this week to lead the seminar.
God has given the church in Kulebovka a vision to use the land beside
their church to develop a sports field to reach children and youth.
This type of ministry is relatively new in Ukraine. Some churches
are beginning to develop, or have a desire to develop, sports as
a way to reach young people.
A volunteer group from Pinelake church in Brandon,
MS, has come to introduce sports ministry as a way to reach children
and youth. Myrna Gregory, a representative of "Upwards Basketball"
ministry, is the primary leader for the week, along with others
from her church who have come along in the group. She is pictured
here on this page leading Ukrainians in training. Their leader,
Ken Robinson, is making his 17th trip to Ukraine this week with
this group. We thank God for the groups like this one who come to
partner with us to train Ukrainians in various ways of sharing the
Gospel.

| The playground is not finished
yet, but a lot of work has been done. This is the "finished"
part. |
|
The photo also shows that much work has already been
done to develop a sports field. A playground for children has already
been developed, where children come each day to play near the church.
A basketball court is being developed as well, with the first goal
being mounted just this week, and a volleyball court stands next
to it. Beside the basketball court will be a soccer field where
many games are to be played in the future, and many relationships
developed with a goal to lead others to Christ.
Pray that this sports ministry will not only be developed
in the town of Kulebovka, but that this particular place would be
able to be used as a model to present to many other churches in
this part of Ukraine, that they might also take this vision and
use it to reach young people in their communities.
