Sunday School and Pastor Training March 2006

Pastors listen attentively to principles about adult Bible study.

In March of 2006 Volunteers from Tennessee, Texas, and Missouri came to lead training for pastors and Sunday School leaders in Poltava oblast. There were workers there who work with children, youth, and adults in bible teaching classes. Representatives from up to 30 churches came to the training. There were about 20 pastors in the pastoral training group where the principles of small group Bible study for adults were taught.

In addition to the pastor’s group, there was a training class for those who work with children, a class for those who work with youth, and for those who teach adults in Bible study in church.

Chuck Gartman leads a session with those who work with youth.

This type of training to equip leaders is vital to our region, where there were not Sunday Schools until the 1990’s, because it was forbidden during the time of the Soviet Union. A majority of churches now have Sunday Schools for children and youth, however, many still do not have ongoing group bible studies for adults.

We appreciate your prayers for our churches as they seek to develop discipleship opportunities to equip members for ministry.
