Poltava Medical Clinics Recap. - May 23-27, 2005

Pictured in the photo above are the Ukrainian team members (plus Mike, Rebekah, Hannah Ray) who ministered in the medical clinics last week.

The week of May 23-27 was a great week of serving people through meeting medical needs. This ministry affords us the opportunity to share the gospel with those who come to the clinics. The American team that was coming to work with us had a problem getting their visas back in time, and could not come. We decided to do the clinics anyway, and the Lord blessed. We conducted the clinics in 10 locations in the 5 days in which we worked.

In each place, while medical ministry was taking place, the gospel was being preached, New Testaments were given, Christian music and testimony was shared, and many for the first time saw an evangelical church with different eyes.

The registration line is a busy place at clinics as hundreds are registered each day. In the photo above you can see people of all ages lining up for assistance.

Many here see any church other than Russian Orthodox to be a cult. Medical clinics, in addition to sowing the gospel in many hearts, help to change the perception of who evangelical believers and churches are. This is something very helpful in planting churches in places where people don't understand who evangelicals are.

During the week the medical doctors received 440 patients, the dentist received 101, and the eye glasses department helped 1,880 people during the clinics. There were also those who made a decision to repent and turn to Christ. Please pray that the seeds of the gospel that were planted during these days will take root. Also pray for those pastors and workers who will try to follow up and contact those who were registered in the clinics. There is still work to be done in each place.
MK Hannah Ray helps Ukrainians in the clinics to find glasses. New Testaments are used to help test reading glasses.
