The week of October 19 - 24 witnessed another evangelism
and medical project in our region. Volunteers from the First Baptist
Church in Martin, TN, came to provide medical care in clinics in
two places in our region. First Baptist Church in Martin is the
church the Ray family left from in 1995 to come to serve in Ukraine,
and they were very happy to see some of their friends here on Ukrainian
soil. The team consisted of doctors, an optometrist, other team
members, a Ukrainian dentist, the Ray family, our team of interpreters.
Each worked to do their part to make the clinics a successful ministry.
The city of Pavlograd, which has a population of
about 150,000 was the location for three days of medical clinics.
In these clinics 1090 children and adults were registered for free
medical care and many were given New Testaments and tracts. Many
had questions about why the group had come and doors were opened
for sharing the gospel. Relationships were built for the church
we were working with that we trust will lead to salvation for many.
Next door to where the medical clinics were held,
the volunteer group provided for a tent in which evangelistic meetings
were held four evenings. Each evening 160-200 people attended, hearing
testimonies, evangelistic music and evangelistic messages. People
who came to the medical clinics were invited to the tent services
and some of them attended in the evenings. A Ukrainian evangelism
team led the services, and American both sang and gave testimonies
during the services. The seeds of the gospel were sown in many lives
during the week.
On the last day the team held a medical clinic in
the town of Bulachivka, where a young church is in formation. Along
with pastor Sasha, who is working there to start the church, the
team worked to share medical care and the gospel with all who came
to the clinic. Each person was given a New Testament, tracts, and
invited to come to the services of the church there in this town.
Pray for those who heard the gospel and received a witness during
the clinic, and especially for pastor Sasha and for those who may
now visit their church as a result of the clinic.
Pray for the many who heard the
gospel, that God would work in their hearts and draw them to Himself to
find forgiveness.
