Medical Clinics August 2006

Cindy Brogan checks blood pressure before the patients are received by the doctors.

Medical clinics continue to be an excellent way to connect with people in Ukraine, as physical needs are met and the opportunity is given to share with them about the Great Physician. We can treat illnesses and help with temporary healing, but there is only One who can help people with their more basic problems.

A group of almost 30 volunteers from several states (most were from Mississippi) came at the end of July/beginning of August to conduct medical clinics. Many of these volunteers have been coming since 2001 to partner with us to reach Ukraine for Christ. All medical care is of course free to those who come.

Dr. Danny Clifton shakes the hand of a happy man who received eye glasses.

God enabled us to conduct 10 medical clinics during the week, in 10 different locations in the Poltava region of Ukraine. In each location the gospel was preached to those who waited and many people were witnessed to individually as well. New Testaments and other literature were also given to those who came.

We received 1,232 patients to General medicine, 1,385 patients received care in optometry, and well over 500 people made decisions during the week. It was one of the best weeks we have had in medical ministry. Our Ukrainian partners were prepared and ready to work alongside us at each point where we ministered. Sometimes clinics have to be done entirely out in the open, as was the case in this setting, thus making it more difficult to work and to treat some patients.

Each patient is treated without cost. In this photo Dr. Michael Albert examines a patient.

SEVEN of the ten places where we worked were brand new places where there is still yet no church. In each place there are plans in motion to begin work and people who have begun working in that location so that there will be a church in that place. The other three places we worked were also very young churches.

PRAISE GOD for all He did during the week. We thank Him for the wonderful volunteers who come and partner with us to reach Ukraine with the gospel and start churches.
