Marting Summer Project Recap - June 13-22 2005

The "Servant Singers" student choir sang concerts nightly, sharing the gospel in song, testimony, and a sermon each night.

June 13-22 a group of volunteers from FBC, Martin, TN, came to share Christ in the city of Mirgorod and in the other surrounding towns. They did so by leading a day camp for children, through presenting concerts each night, and also through helping with renovating a building for a the new Baptist church in Mirgorod, a city of almost 50,000.

By the last morning of day camp 60 children were coming and enjoying the program of Bible stories, games, crafts, and singing. Each one heard the story of Christ and received a Bible Story book on the last day of the camp. While most of the volunteer group was involved in day camp, others were involved in painting the outside of the church building, and in stripping some of the inside walls for future work on the interior.

Hey, girls can paint, too! Students helped with renovation by painting the exterior of the church building.

Each evening, the choir traveled to a different location to share a musical concert along with testimonies and an evangelistic message from a Ukrainian missionary.

While the choir was singing each night in various towns, a large tent was used for evangelistic services in Mirgorod, in which were led by Ukrainian music groups and preachers. The gospel was heard by unbelievers each evening and we trust that God will draw people to Himself through the preaching of the His Word.

On the last morning, before departing, the group shared together in worship with local believers from the church in Mirgorod. One lady, who was visiting from another town, shared that she had been praying for 10 years that there would be a Baptist church in Mirgorod, and that it was not accident she happened to be visiting that day. The Lord blessed, and we pray and trust that the seeds He planted will also come to bear fruit.

Day Camp is a fun time, as Bible lessons are learned, games are played, etc. These children are hearing a bible story.
