Medical Project Recap. - July 20-27, 2007

Checking patient's vision.

July 20-27, 2007 was a great week as God blessed and answered so many prayers. In 5 days we did clinics in 11 different places. God granted safety and energy to do the work. Each day our two teams traveled to a new location, set up the clinics, treated and helped people all day long, packed up the clinics, traveled back home for a hot supper, and then hit the sack in order to get up and do it again the next day.

This is the 7th time for this volunteer group, primarily from Mississippi, but also including members from Georgia and other states, to come and work in our area of Ukraine to do as Christ did: healing, and also shared the good news as He went about healing. Doctors, optometrists, nurses, pastors and a host of other volunteers came to serve Christ and people through meeting medical needs while sharing the gospel. This year we also had a special clinic for pediatric needs in partnership with a Women's Crisis Pregnancy Center in which young mothers came to share their concerns and ask questions, as well as receiving free medical care for their children.

These clinics all together received the following patients during the week:

  • General Medicine 1156
  • Optometry 1080
  • Dental 127

We also had a Ukrainian brother who went with our group this week to work with children. Each day he went out and gathered children in each place where we did the clinics. They heard about Christ as he shared with them through story, in games and in songs. This was also a boost to the ministry of the churches where we went each day.

Our Ukrainian brothers and sisters also did their part in the project.

In addition to preaching the word, we also had counselors who talked personally to the patients after they had seen the doctors. This was a helpful ministry to let local people share about their problems and get to pray for their spiritual and physical needs.

There were 93 decisions for Christ during the clinics. We know that many many seeds were planted in the lives of people who are just beginning to consider the gospel. We often hear feedback long after the clinics are over.

We pray that in the coming day God will grant us the opportunity to hear about what He is doing in the places where the clinics were held.

We ask that you would PRAY:

  • For the local believers who will continue to work with those who came to the clinics. Our projects are short-term, and we need to pray for the long term fishers of men in each place.
  • For those who heard the gospel each day, that the seeds would go deep into their hearts and take root.
  • For the young churches we were working with in the clinics...that the Father will bring many to Himself and build His church in each location.
