Medical Project Recap. - July 21-29, 2005
July 21-29 was a wonderful week as a volunteer medical group came to work with us. The group, with members from Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee conducted medical clinics in 10 different locations in our region. The group totaled over 45 people including translators, drivers, etc. During the week there were almost 2,600 medical appointments, including 1192 to general medicine, 1088 to the optometrists, and 317 to the dentists. Several hundred people indicated decisions for Christ during the week. This group of volunteers included many very experienced folks, who have been in Ukraine and other countries many times, as well as a few "first time" international mission trip participants. We greatly appreciate their partnership together with us here to build up the Kingdom of God and reach people for Christ.
What happens after the clinics in the places where they were held is vitally important. As a follow up to these clinics, the local Ukrainian pastors and missionaries invite people to Bible studies starting the following week. Much gospel seed was sown in many lives during the week, and we pray that God will water it and bring it to harvest. Pray that His Spirit to move in their lives. Medical clinics are also very
helpful in developing relationships in the community. God uses the
clinics to help change the perceptions and attitudes of people in
each community toward Baptists and evangelicals, making it easier
to share the gospel in the future.
